History

Garden State Woman, Inc. launched in 1998 as a publisher of a quarterly magazine aimed primarily at New Jersey corporate, professional and business owning women. Over the years, under Judy Chapman’s leadership, Garden State Woman expanded services provided to New Jersey women into: hosting financial and health conferences and networking events; publishing annual financial and health guides; developing an information rich web site at www.gswoman.com and creating the Garden State Woman Education Foundations501(c) 3. One objective of the Foundation is to generate scholarship and mentoring support for exceptional, motivated and bright young women graduating from New Jersey’s inner city high schools and attending 4 year New Jersey colleges and universities.

In 2006 Garden State Woman initiated a search to identify and recognize the leading women in New Jersey in a broad spectrum of fields. Every January the selected honorees are presented their awards reflecting their personal successes in their chosen fields as well as for their exceptional contributions to others in their local, state-wide, national and global communities.

Judy Chapman founded Garden State Woman, Inc. in 1998 and the Garden State Woman Education Foundation 501(c)3 in 2007. In recognition of the need for women everywhere, including New Jersey, to take firmer control of their futures and their families’ futures - in a world that is still not equally balanced between the opportunities and rewards provided men and women - for equal efforts in many aspects of their personal and professional lives.
