A Garden State "Woman of the Year" Award exemplifies the highest personal commitment to supporting women's efforts, to develop and excel and to affect positive change for women throughout the state.
The Annual Garden State Woman of the Year program, organized by Garden State Woman in 2005, recognizes truly remarkable New Jersey women and organizations committed to supporting women's efforts to grow and excel.
The women selected demonstrate exceptional leadership in their chosen professional lives, have a commitment to making a difference in the lives of others through their community service and serve as inspirational role models for other women striving to improve their life and the lives of others.
Eligibility: Any woman currently living in New Jersey who demonstrates in her daily life an impact on her peers and her community is eligible to be nominated. Previous Garden State Woman of the Year Award Winners are not eligible. Women nominated in previous years may be nominated again.
The organization eligible for an award should have an internal women's initiative within a larger organization.
We require the 8th Annual Garden State Woman of the Year Award recipients to attend the Annual Awards Luncheon scheduled for April 5, 2013.
Nominating: Any person or organization can nominate a woman (or women) or organization they believe meets the qualifications and is an extraordinary person or organization having a major impact on the lives of New Jersey women.
Please include a 700 word (or less) essay explaining why this candidate deserves a Woman of the Year nomination, along with a high-resolution photo of the nominee.

Deadline: Nominations received on or prior to January 7, 2013 will be considered. Honorees to be recognized at the awards luncheon will be selected by February 1, 2013 and notified shortly after.
Recognition: On April 5, 2013 there will be a special Garden State Woman of the Year Awards Luncheon sponsored by the Garden State Woman Education Foundation. The event will be held in Florham Park at the Park Avenue Club, a unique not-for-profit private club that supports charitable and cultural organizations. A special Garden State Woman of the Year "Gets it" Award will be presented to one of the women nominated and being honored in one of the listed categories. The annual "Gets It" award winner demonstrates a commitment to raising awareness about the significant role of women and girls in our culture. By example, she demonstrates an awareness of the need for women and girls to pursue opportunity unfettered by gender. The organizations will also be honored at the luncheon. All those honored will be profiled editorially in the Leaders section of Garden State Woman Website. All nominees will be listed for special recognition.
A portion of the proceeds will go to the Garden State Woman Education Foundation (a 501(c)(3)) scholarship fund which supports the education of New Jersey inner city high school girls attending four year New Jersey colleges or universities.
