John H. (Jack) Killion died suddenly Friday morning, November 5, 2021, at home on Walnut Farm. Our son Jonathan and I were with him. Jack was my friend and combatant for 70 years and my husband for 60 years. He was co-founder of Garden State Woman LLC and Garden State Woman Education Foundation – a 501 c3. Jack provided the funding; I provide the intellect.
Jack has been described as a “Renaissance Man”. I like that because he was driven by a thirst for knowledge. He thought you could learn something from everybody. One of his favorite questions was: What’s your favorite restaurant?”
There was no idea that he could not get interested in. Big ideas did not intimidate him. I am going to put out a big idea to everyone in our network. The Big Idea is to force a culture change. Jack and I do not want our granddaughter Avery – who gave Jack total love and joy – to grow up in a world where mean and nasty are accepted behaviors. We simply owe our young people something better than that. Grow your network: be kind, be thoughtful and lend a helping hand to anyone that needs one.
Jon and I are deeply grateful to the Washington Township Policemen who valiantly tried to bring Jack back; rapid response from the Long Valley First Aid Squad – the paramedics and volunteers – all competent and compassionate who continued CPR and transported Jack to Atlantic Health Care. Thank you to The Emergency Room Staff in Hackettstown that continued to try and revive him and showed us warm and compassionate caring.
Our gratitude to the hundreds of lives thar Jack impacted for sharing your thoughts, sending flowers, and visiting with us. To all of you who knew “Uncle Jack”, we share your loss. We all have to Network with Everybody, Everywhere, All The Time. Take business cards to a funeral was one of his classic lines. we did. Judy Chapman Killion
