A Symptom Free Menopause

Why do so many women experience these symptoms? The answer lies in the connective tissue. Connective tissue, or fascia, spreads throughout your entire body, like a spider web, from head to toe. It surrounds every muscle, nerve, bone, and organ in our bodies. There is even fascia surrounding each and every cell of our bodies. This tissue is naturally a gel like consistency. However, when we experience trauma, inflammation, poor posture, even severe emotional stress, that connective tissue hardens as a protective response. That hardened tissue exerts 2000 pounds of pressure per square inch on pain sensitive structures. Imagine four full grown horses standing on blood vessels, nerves, and organs!
Over time these restrictions can affect the Dural Tube, a band of Connective Tissue that runs from your tail bone, up over the top of your head, into your sinuses. When this tissue is tight, it can prevent proper transfer of hormones through the blood/brain barrier. Recent research also shows that connective tissue restriction can change the shape of a cell, which can then alter the production and balance of our hormones. These hormonal imbalances cause hot flashes, mood swings, weight gain, and decreased libido, any of this sound familiar?
What do we do about it? Myofascial Release Therapy can help. A trained Myofascial Release Therapist can perform a postural evaluation to find your areas of restriction, then using prolonged pressure over areas of restriction, they can melt the tissue back into a gel-like consistency, increasing range of motion, decreasing pain, and allowing the hormones to regulate themselves.
