An Opportunity to Help

scholar_collage_2011Since it's formation in 2007, the Garden State Woman Education Foundation (501(c)(3)) has supported the educational aspirations of eight bright and motivated young women through our Scholarship Fund. All graduates of high schools from our state's inner cities and accepted into four-year colleges or universities in New Jersey, these exceptional young women depend on financial assistance to support their education.

Garden State Woman Education Foundation would like to invite you to join with us in supporting these future leaders by sponsoring a scholarship for $1500 for the 2011-2012 school year. Your support will allow us to extend the reach of our Scholarship Program by accepting additional students into the program.

In addition to the impact you will help make on the education of a deserving student from New Jersey, Garden State Woman will co-name the scholarship in both our organization's names, recognize your support through press releases and e-newsletters, and on our website, www.gswoman.com, for an entire year. If interested, you would also be welcome to meet the student you are co-sponsoring and/or provide her with mentoring support and internship opportunities.

All of the Garden State Woman Scholars are carefully reviewed and selected from a pool of worthy candidates. In addition to showing financial need, the applicants must demonstrate, through transcripts and references, their commitment to their education and leadership in their school or community, and provide a 750 word essay outlining college and career goals. Once accepted to receive scholarship support (which is given directly to the university to be applied towards tuition costs), continued financial assistance through all four years of her education is dependant upon her remaining a student in good standing with her college or university. Garden State Woman receives and reviews her transcript at the end of each semester, as well as communicating frequently throughout the school year. All scholars are encouraged to attend any Garden State Woman Education Foundation program at no charge.
