Boheme Opera NJ Brings “Madama Butterfly” to the Stage
Boheme Opera NJ is one of the oldest opera companies in New Jersey. Since its founding in 1989, Boheme Opera continues its mission of making world-class opera performances accessible to artists and audiences.
This coming March, Boheme Opera NJ will be closing out its 34th main stage season with the performance of "Madama Butterfly," a performance of a tragic tale of love and betrayal. The performance will showcase a traditional Italian production with sets and costumes by and under the stage direction of the Artistic Director of Teatro Lirico D'Europa, Giorgio Lalov.
Boheme Opera NJ is delighted to bring Artistic Director Joseph Pucciatti's masterpiece to life on stage. Pucciatti says, "'Butterfly' is an emotionally charged, intimate opera essentially set in someone's home for the entire production. The physical sets help ground the audience as guests in that home—as if you were at an obligated family function with no way to leave and nothing to watch but this tragedy of betrayal as it unfolded before your eyes."
"Madama Butterfly" will be brought to the stage on March 24th, 2023 at 8pm and March 26th, 2023 at 3pm at Kendall Hall Theater on the campus of The College of New Jersey.
