Looking Forward
Positive thinking should be the "buzzword" for going forward in 2023. Let's give optimism a chance. Let's make the decision at a grassroots level to look for the good and the positive every day. How do we do this when we are bombarded constantly with bad stuff? One approach is to make a conscious decision to change the way we think and be determined to go forward looking for the positive rather than the negative.
A good way to start is with the weather. It is what it is. How to find the positive when your golf game is rained out will take some imagination. Another good way to find the positive is to begin the day with a yes answer. This will usually provoke a positive response, even when it includes, "yes, but…"
Most of us like to be helpful to others. Being critical is easy. Creating chaos is habit-forming. Use your people skills to achieve the outcome you want. Have you noticed how often driving courtesy results in other drivers being helpful and positive?
We the people includes each of us doing our best to be the best that we can be. Because we live in a country founded on the belief that individual rights are granted to every law-abiding citizen, we have the responsibility and opportunity to respect opinions that differ from ours. Putting a positive spin on conflicting opinions takes practice and skill.
One way to begin being a positive thinker is to say "Happy New Year" to everyone you encounter. We wish you a healthy and happy new year.
