Patty Whitehouse Elected President of NJSFWC

PattyWhitehousePatty Whitehouse has been elected for a two year term as President of the New Jersey State Federation of Women's Clubs (NJSFWC). Her duties include the leadership of a 44 member Board dedicated to seeing the vision of NJSFWC flourish: To be recognized as the premiere statewide volunteer organization that provides structure and support in pursuit of community service. The mission of the NJSFWC is to provide opportunities for education, leadership training and community service through participation in local clubs, enabling members to make a difference in the lives of others one project at a time.
Presently NJSFWC has 9500 members and 250 clubs located across the state. New Jersey is the third largest state membership within the General Federation of Women's Clubs (GFWC) headquartered in Washington, DC. See www.gfwc.org.
Founded in 1894, NJSFWC is the largest women's volunteer community service organization in New Jersey. The NJSFWC Headquarters Building (which was funded through a trading stamps program) is located on the Douglass College Campus, next to the Institute for Women's Leadership. Douglass College (originally known as the New Jersey College for Women) was established in 1918 by the clubwomen of New Jersey. See www.njsfwc.org.
Now that Patty has retired from her executive position with a major insurance company and has completed training to be an Executive Coach, her two passions are the New Jersey State Federation of Women's Club and the Senior Leadership Program for Professional Women, housed at The Institute for Women's Leadership at Douglass College. "I attended this program while I was still engaged in corporate America and I found it invaluable. Not only did I acquire leadership skills that enhanced my work skills, but I also achieved a degree of introspection about me and where I wanted to be in the future. It was a strong networking opportunity also," noted Patty.
