Saint Vincent Academy Student Will Study Abroad in South Africa
Saint Vincent Acedemy is a four-year Catholic college preparatory school for women located in Newark, New Jersey. SVA was founded in 1869 by the Sisters of Charity of Saint Elizabeth of New Jersey, who continue to sponsor the academy. SVA is Newark's only Catholic college-preparatory school for girls. Astoundingly, one of SVA's seniors, Yamile Arcela Rivera, will be studying abroad this year in South Africa. Read more about Rivera below.
A girl on the go…
Entering her senior year at Saint Vincent Academy (SVA), Yamile Arcela Rivera felt secure and challenged enough to spread her wings. Yamile is the first in SVA's history to undertake the exciting journey of attending a semester abroad at the School for Ethics and Global Leadership (SEGL) in Johannesburg, South Africa.
SEGL is an internationally acclaimed program of learning and living with other students from across the globe. The program includes a core schedule of English, history, math, foreign language, and science classes, in addition to the college-prep courses in ethics, leadership, entrepreneurship, law, conflict resolution, and African Studies.
